ARCS Light Awards Honor 14 for Their Contributions

Posted on Friday, April 13, 2018

ARCS Foundation’s highest honor for volunteer work given annually to a member from each chapter

ARCS® Foundation honored 14 of its members for their work on behalf of the mission to promote academically outstanding students in the areas of science, engineering, and medical research at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Every year, the awards are given to a member who has given continuous service with a positive impact on her chapter.  The recipients of the 2018 ARCS Light Awards have served in vital leadership positions on their boards; established scholar awards at university partners; chaired multiple fund-raising events; and provided expertise in various areas of the chapter operations.

The 2018 award recipients are:

Judith Benham – Minnesota
Linda Burke – Pittsburgh
Lynn Dillon – Metro Washington
Doris Ellsworth – San Diego
Susan Higley – Atlanta
Marie Lipman – Northern California
Barbara MacDonald – Colorado
Sandra Mangurian – Illinois
Kathie Miller – Utah
Susan Mooradian – Northern California
Penny Papadopoulos – Phoenix
Marie Richman – Orange County
Keitha Russell – Los Angeles
Andrea Thoreson – Seattle

ARCS Foundation congratulates these award recipients and thanks them for their contributions to the continuing success of the Foundation.

“ARCS Foundation promotes a wonderful cause and works hard to keep costs down and financial support in the hands of the scholars. The work our volunteers do makes that possible,” said Penny Papadopoulos, member of the Phoenix chapter and a 2018 ARCS Light Award recipient. “The women volunteers who support ARCS are bright, thoughtful stewards of educational resources and are the backbone of the success of ARCS.”
