President Brickner Reports on 2015-16 Results

Posted on Tuesday, November 22, 2016

ARCS® Foundation begins its 2016-17 program year with a refreshed website and a reenergized focus on increasing our support of our ARCS scholars and continuing robust relationships with our academic partners. I especially congratulate and welcome our newest 2016-17 ARCS scholars who are reading our newsletter for the first time.

We have a lot to do this year to surpass the 2015-16 milestones of ARCS Foundation:

  • During 2015-16, 636 ARCS Scholars from 51 colleges and universities received $4,792,269 in scholar awards, the highest number of scholars and the greatest disbursement of funds in the history of ARCS Foundation.
  • Since the funding of our first scholar in 1958, ARCS Foundation has
    • Granted scholar awards totaling $100,986,274, and
    • Funded 16,601 years of financial support for 9,572 ARCS scholars.

These record-setting achievements are the direct result of our 1,348 colleagues from 16 Chapters working in concert with our 51 distinguished institutions and their 602 departments. We especially thank our donors, who understand the need to cultivate the talent and promise of our ARCS scholars and the contributions of our scholar alumni in the global competition for discovery and innovation. You can read more in our 2015-16 Annual Report.

This year, we ask our scholar alumni, members, and friends to renew their commitment and support for ARCS Foundation in two specific ways on November 29:  by submitting 2017 nominations for election to the ARCS Alumni Hall of Fame and by donating on #Giving Tuesday to sustain the programs and operations of ARCS Foundation. So mark your calendars! I look forward to hearing from you on November 29.
