ARCS Foundation Chapters Compete to Support Scholars Nationwide

Posted on Tuesday, July 8, 2025

LaGrange, Georgia (July 8, 2025) - Each year, all fifteen regional chapters of ARCS Foundation are invited to participate in the annual Chapter Challenge, a friendly competition to raise funds for ARCS National. Members, their families, and friends rally together to contribute to ARCS National’s Operations and Endowment Funds, supporting their chapter’s chance to secure additional funding for ARCS Scholar grants.

Originally, the Chapter Challenge offered two grants of $2,500 each. Last year, the program expanded to provide four grant opportunities: the Scholar Award Participation Grant and the Scholar Award Champion Grant, each recognizing first- and second-place chapters with awards of $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.

From the 2024-25 Chapter Challenge, the Phoenix Chapter once again distinguished itself by earning top honors in both categories for the fourth consecutive year.

“Congratulations to the Phoenix ARCS Chapter for their outstanding participation in the Chapter Challenge,” said Beth Wainwright, 2024-2025 ARCS Foundation President. “Their hard work and dedication have paid off for four consecutive years, and their members exemplify the commitment that ARCS Foundation has to furthering science in the U.S."

For achieving the highest member participation, Phoenix received the $1,500 Scholar Award Participation Grant, while the Minnesota Chapter earned the $1,000 second-place grant. The Participation Grant rewards chapters with the broadest engagement among their members.

Phoenix also secured the $1,500 Scholar Award Champion Grant for raising the most funds overall. The Atlanta Chapter was recognized in second place with a $1,000 grant.

“Our chapter believes that advancing the ARCS mission nationally strengthens every chapter’s ability to make an impact locally. By prioritizing the Chapter Challenge, we are investing in the infrastructure, innovation, and visibility that support all scholars across the country,” said Sydney Fox, President of ARCS Foundation Phoenix Chapter. “Our Chapter is proud to support the work of ARCS, and our members believe the Chapter Challenge is a reflection of our commitment to the collective success of ARCS and the future of American science and innovation.”
