The Portland Chapter’s Recognizing Genius Scholar Awards Luncheon is held every October. At this event, students receive their three-year ARCS Foundation Portland award and can meet with donors, guests, university faculty and Chapter members.

The Recognizing Genius Scholar Awards Luncheon features prominent speakers in the sciences and education. Dr. Craig Barrett, retired CEO and chairman of the board of Intel Corporation, was the keynote speaker at the 2011 luncheon. He is an advocate for improving education in the United States and around the world, and a spokesman for the value of technology in raising global social and economic standards. At the 2010 luncheon, William Gates Sr., co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, spoke on “Making a Difference: The Value of Philanthropy in Education.” Click on Portland's Signature Event to learn more.
