I currently use a genetic mouse model of binge drinking to study the behavioral features and neurobiological mechanism that underlie this pattern of excessive consumption. I am especially interested in the drinking microstructure, which refers to the component parts of alcohol consumption such as bouts (temporally associated bursts of drinking) and the intervals between them. These drinking elements might relate to key aspects of alcohol abuse, such as craving and loss of control of drinking, and can provide insight into how excessive alcohol intake occurs.” Portland Chapter News...
