Wall Street Journal - The Disappearing Young Scientist

Posted on Tuesday, February 17, 2015

I read this article (link below) in today's Wall Street Journal citing the ARCS Foundation as a model foundation for advancing American research in the STEM fields (attached as well as the link below).
It served as a great reminder of how thankful I am for my ARCS Fellowship - PPG Industries Award as I get ready to graduate this coming May from Carnegie Mellon's Chemical Engineering Department.  To update, I have accepted a Senior Scientist position with the pharmaceutical company Merck where I will be working on developing injectable drug technologies.
It was a pleasure and a privilege to get to share my appreciation for the ARCS Foundation as a Third Year Scholar at the ARCS Reception in the Fall of 2012.  However, I wanted to reiterate my thanks for all of your support over the years, including hosting me in your homes, providing tickets to Pittsburgh sports games (being a native, I am a big Steelers and Penguins fan!), and being among the nicest and most generous people I have ever met.
Thank you again, I could not have made it to where I am without the support of the ARCS Foundation!   I certainly hope to keep in touch, and if I can ever be of service to the ARCS Foundation, please do NOT hesitate to ask!  While I will be moving to Philadelphia, my family will still be in Pittsburgh so I will still be making trips back to the area.
Please feel free to pass my thanks along as I do not have everyone's email.

Sincerely,
Steve Spagnol
