Who We Are

"It is clear that if the United States is going to retain our position as the preeminent economy in the world, that we need to accelerate our development of talented engineering graduates in this country.  ARCS® Foundation recognized this need over five decades ago and established a very focused and innovative scholar awards program to support U.S. citizens interested in pursuing graduate degrees in math, science, and engineering.  My family and I support this program personally (in Northern California) and Intel has been the beneficiary of many talented ARCS Scholars both from their academic work and their workforce contributions to our country."

ARCS® Foundation, Inc. — Achievement Rewards for College Scientists — is an organization of women philanthropists who are dedicated to “Advancing Science in America.”

The primary purpose of ARCS Foundation is the support of students in the fields of science, engineering and medical research at universities within geographic areas of ARCS Foundation Chapters.

Our greatest science questions will be answered by the young minds at work today in U.S. colleges and universities.

ARCS Foundation was founded in 1958 to address what was recognized as the critical future and growing need for U.S. scientists and engineers. Toward this goal, ARCS Foundation invests in outstanding U.S. scholars completing degrees in science, engineering and medical research. One hundred percent of scholar award contributions — from corporations, endowments, individuals, the all-women volunteer members of ARCS Foundation and money designated for Chapters’ Scholar Funds — goes to fund these motivated students. Many alums of ARCS Foundation funding have entered the nation’s government agencies and corporations to work on the advancement of U.S. science and technology.

Beyond financial support ARCS Foundation members take a personal interest in ARCS Scholars and Scholar alums. We meet with the students to learn more about their work, challenges and successes. This often continues through academic life and into their careers.
