The San Diego Chapter of the ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) Foundation is one of 16 chapters that are dedicated to helping the best and brightest United States students by providing scholar awards in the natural sciences, medicine, and engineering. For academic year 2008-2009, ARCS Foundation chapters contributed $4,482,023 to 554 students at 46 colleges and universities.
Since the San Diego Chapter's charter began in 1985, 820 scholar awards totaling $6,427,000 have been awarded to graduate and undergraduate students attending The Scripps Research Institute, San Diego State University, University of California, San Diego, including Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and University of San Diego. For academic year 2009-2010, the San Diego Chapter is awarding $317,500 to 42 ARCS Foundation Scholars. Annual scholar awards range from $5,000 to $15,000.
