The Portland Chapter of the ARCS Foundation was chartered in June 2004. The chapter provided its first eleven ARCS Foundation scholarships to PhD students at Oregon Health & Science University in the 2005-2006 academic year and will award its first scholarships to PhD students at Oregon State University in the fall of 2008. Each ARCS Scholar receives $5,000 per year for three years, or until the completion of his or her doctoral degree, whichever occurs first. These funds are in addition to any existing stipend and tuition support. ARCS Foundation funds are intended to facilitate a student’s completion of graduate study and may be used by the student for any purpose.
