Who We Are
ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) Foundation, Inc. is a national volunteer women's organization dedicated to helping the best and brightest U. S. graduate and undergraduate students by providing scholar awards in natural sciences, medicine and engineering.
The Foundation was formed in 1958 in Los Angeles in response to Sputnik and the lack of U. S. supremacy in the technology race. Since then, the ARCS Foundation has grown to 17 chapters throughout the United States.

Members of the ARCS Foundation are all volunteers who donate their time, efforts, and financial support. Because one hundred percent of every dollar donated goes directly to scholar awards, ARCS Foundation, Inc. provides a way that individuals and corporate and civic organizations can combine their resources and efforts to support American scholars, helping to insure a better future for all. ARCS Foundation grants for basic scientific education are the largest of any private membership organization in the United States.
In academic year 2009-2010, over 1,600 ARCS Foundation members awarded $4,000,961 to 52 schools, for a cumulative total since its founding of $74,825,946 and 13,157 scholar years. Chapter endowments for scholar support now total $12,877,101. |
